Mapping A One Way Trip

  1. Map your route

The first thing you need to do is enter your start and end address in the ROUTE form. You can enter a city, state or get as specific as an address. In this walkthrough, we will plan a trip from San Diego, CA to Phoenix, AZ. If you wish to travel through certain places on your way to your destination, click on the ADD STOP button for each additional location. Enter the location in the Waypoint input box. When you have finished entering the start address, end address, and any additional stops, click on the MAP IT button. This will display the route on the map and give you driving directions for that route.

  2. Search for campgrounds

With your route now mapped, you can search for campgrounds using the FIND form. This form allows you to narrow down your search to campgrounds that have certain features or amenities. To search for campgrounds that have RV sites and hiking as an activity, select those options in the form as shown below. Clicking on the FIND CAMPGROUNDS button will search for campgrounds that match your search criteria and display them along your route on the map.

  3. Check campsite availability

To check campground availability, click on the campground icon on the map. This will bring up an info window that contains the availability form. Enter your arrival date and length of stay and click on the Check Availability link. This will search the campground for available campsites that meet your search criteria. If there are sites available, you will see a message stating the number of sites and a link - Add this campground to my route. Clicking on the link will add the campground to the trip summary and update your driving directions.

  4. View your trip summary

The trip summary section contains all of the campgrounds you have selected and any stops you added in the ROUTE form. By default, any campground you add is inserted at the bottom of the list. You can reorder the campgrounds simply by clicking on the arrow icon and dragging it to the desired position in the list. To remove a campground from your trip, click on the Delete link. To reserve a campsite at this campground, click on the Reserve Campsite link.

  5. Save and share your trip

To share your trip, click on the SHARE YOUR TRIP button in the SHARE form. This will create a unique URL for your trip that you can send to your friends and family. You can also post your trip to Facebook or Twitter by clicking on their respective icons.

Mapping A Round Trip

  1. Map your route

Mapping a round trip is very similar to a one way trip with only exception is that the start address and end address are the same. You will add a stop for each location you want to travel through on your trip. In the example below, we are taking a round trip that starts in San Diego, CA, goes through Palm Springs, then on to Phoenix. Check the Roundtrip checkbox and the trip planner will set your return route. Uncheck the checkbox and it will restore your one way trip. When you are done, click on the MAP IT button to display the route on the map and give you driving directions for that route.
